    Hi

Newbie question here. Just wondering if the internal relays on the thermostats can be controlled from other C-Bus devices.

I'm thinking along the lines of turning the heating/cooling off via a remote computer using the toolkit to cover the situation where the heating/cooling has accidently been left on and I'm several hours drive away.

    Cheers
    Michael

You would not control the relays directly.

You would turn the A/C system on or off (and it in turn would throw the relays).

This way you honour all the rules about the plant control, cycle times, and so on.

There is a new product coming very very very very soon which will do what you want without this level of low-level work-around. Watch this space.

additional question about internal relays. it is written everywhere, that it works with 24V AC.

will it work with 24V DC? or maybe it will work as dry contacts either, without any input voltage?

24 V dc is most likely OK but the current switching ability will be less.

They are not 100% dry contacts, when you check the wiring you will find that some of the contacts share a 'common' point.

    Thank you!
I won't sell it until it works "surely OK" =)

And people say, that Wiser gateway is not released yet, so they don't give any info on it..

Yes. Wiser supports remote control of the thermostat. With and without relays. It does not matter, wiser handles them both.

    Thermostat widget within wiser

So, just to confirm, does the Wiser thermostat widget display current temperature readings and/or other thermostat settings: or is it just on/off like a light/relay?

I ask this because I"ll get a CIS thermostat and put it into my system if it can be controlled and ambient temp viewed within wiser ( and therfore remotely)

Can I suggest you create a climate control widget and prewiew? Hopefully this will explain if it meets your requirements

    Hey looks great...

So when it says it does not support all functions of the c-bus thermostat...only reverse cycle heating/cooling,,is that a reference to the relays of a 5070?

I've got the following 2 thermostats, I was hoping to replace with cbus ones

1/ A Honeywell CM67 which I basically just use to switch on/off a hydronic system (I don't use any scheduling).

2/ A Daikin BRC,,,which controls a ducted aircon reverse cycle. And one damper zone.

I independantly put in cbus relays to control these as well..so I can switch power to the units on/off through the wiser already...but some more accurate control and ambient temp monitoring would be better...

Also a/ how would someone go about basic IR on/off control of a spilt air con....anyway of linking this into this widget??
b/ Can the additional optional temp sensor reading be monitored with this widget as well?

This function is one great step forward!!!

These questions have been asked many times already.

Please use the search function on the forum

    Thanks

I have a pretty good idea how to set things up on the cbus/toolkit side...

I was actually after some info about how the climate control widget interacts with the c-bus termostats (more specifically than what I found in the manual ;)

Correct me if I am wrong, but I can find nothing to tell me on the forum so far about whether the new Wiser Climate control widget can actually display an outside temperature (in addition to the main inside one), or run an IR controlled aircon...all within the one widget. I assume it's ONE Wiser Climate control widget per ONE thermostat. (but it actually doesn't say this) You might need a number of climate control widgets...or even non specific widgets for all I know...

Think of the wiser widget as a remote control for the settings on the cbus thermostat.

    Thanks Ashleigh

This concept really helps. But could someone really answer my specific questions. It's important in that it will help me decide what to do.....

Appols. But how is this answered?

I'm sorry. I have read these threads, but still don't see how they have answered my questions. So I'll ask them again. Neither thread mentions anything about the Wiser Thermostat widget.

My questions relate to the WISER controlled thermostat widget.

    Concerning Aircon.

The vast majority of aircon's are the spilt system type with a hand held IR controlled remote. Not the ones that can be controlled with say a coolmaster (as the Ist thread is about). None of my Aircons can be controlled in this way.

Q1/ How do you link basic IR on/off control of a spilt aircon system into the Wiser controlled thermostat widget?

Q2/ Can the additional optional temp sensor (for the 5070) have it's reading monitored with this widget?

    Concerning Hydronic.

Sure I understand there is a basic hydronic set up within Toolkit, and that the Cbus 5070 will offer basic hydronic control (+-24V relays) or you use external 240 relays: which I'm doing. And this 5070 will then be "broadcast" onto the Thermostat widget.

Q3/ Is there any way of getting the external 240V relay control WITHIN the widget (say in the "more" setting).?

Q4/ Is there just the ONE Thermostat widget (as is) or is there a simpler one without "fans" etc, or can you edit the aircon button controls out of the widget to make it more appropriate for simpler hydronic control?

    Thanks:)
