Does anyone know when the new 5501RBCP module for controlling electric blind motos will be released? This looks like it will elimintate all known issues and limitations.

Unit is found on page 44 of following pdf document.

    Thanks Mick,

Its a shame there isnt an ETA on the unit. It is such a tease to put an item like that in a product document without a release date.

Is there any news on this unit yet (the 5501 that is).

I am getting sick of walking to the shed to turn the electric fence off and I want to install on so I can check it is on from the house

The L5501RBCP is designed to control electric blind motors. How do you plan to use it to control an electric fence?

the impression I got was that this was a single channel change over relay in a din rail enclosure that had a few extra smarts to control blinds (ie delays between switching etc).

I was planning to use it just as a basic switch.

if that is not the case then can someone tell me if there is a single channel din-rail enclosure in the pipeline - the existing single channel does not suit the application at hand

If all you are after is a C-Bus-powered relay unit then the L5501RBCP will not satisfy you because the relays cannot be operated continuously. They time out after a (configurable) time period.

What is wrong with the CBUS single channel Relay for this application.

a 5101RC would do the job perfectly. just plug in the power point and then plug the electric fence in the back. All you need is the Pick cat 5 to the house......

But if it is DIN mounting you require then not much help

safe installation of this unit (IMO) is difficult and the preference was for DIN as it made the install look clean and right.

I am currently using one of these and find them very difficult to install in a way that I find acceptable

I thought a wife was that with one or two additional benefits occasionally.

    Is it out yet?

Is the blind controller out yet and available for the common man. I know its in the latest toolkit, but I have not seen anyone with one yet.

Actually the testing went really well. We ran a few of them continuously over the Christmas/New Year period and they were still going strong when the motor's gearboxes gave up :)

I'll leave it for others to comment on the release status - partly because I don't know all the details, partly because I'm just a lowly design engineer ;)

Gearboxes gave up? Shouldn't be after such short time. Curious, which motor did you use?

Does this mean the Blind controller are now available?

I'm not going to go into details of the test here, it was but it was the equivalent of over 10 years worth of operation for the relays.

Any update ob the releease of the 5501RBCP ?

I now have a roller blind in the bedroom of our new house in FNQ and I suspect that there are a number of birds (the feathered variaty!!) that are now in therapy having flown past the window in the mornings.

I want to place Clipsal on record for being responsible for cruelty to our native wildlife because the 5501RBCP is still not released!:D

When will this cruelty end!

    Cheers,
