I have an installation where there are 3 x SENPILL sensors that are installed in hallways with very little ambient light during the day. This is combined with very dark coloured tiles. The light levels shown by the sensor during the day are usually between 0 - 30 Lux. (This is true even when the lights are on in the hallways as the lights are all downlights and there is not enough light reflected to the ceiling)

As a result, I have been unable to find a solution so that the sensors will only switch their groups when the house is in true darkness.

There is currently a "Goodnight Scene" that turns off all lights except in the bedrooms. Can anyone suggest a way that this scene could be used to activate the relevant sensors?

    Cheers

The sensors have the ability to be remotely enabled and disabled by a C-Bus Group Address. What you need to do is configure your sensors to use a common enable/disable group and then come up with a method for turning this group on or off as needed in your installation.

If you have devices that can run schedules (Wiser/C-Touches/PACA) then you have lots of options. You can do things like enable the sensors at, for example, 1 hour before Sunset each day and disable them again at Sunrise. You can also enable and disable the sensors at fixed times of day if you choose.

If you have a light level sensor in your network somewhere that gives a meaningful measure of the light level then you can use that to enable/disable the sensors too.

If all you want to do is enable the sensors when the "Goodnight" scene is set then all you need to do is include the group you've selected for enabling/disabling the sensors in that scene. If you have a corresponding "Good Morning" scene then you can disable them in that, or you can set a schedule that automatically disables them at a particular time.

If you don't have any logic or schedule capable devices then I'd suggest getting a separate C-Bus light level sensor and using it to enable and disable the sensors. It should be installed somewhere that gives a good clear indication of light levels so that you can accurately set the light level threshold.

I have a similar issue to you with one of my motion sensors (the light level threshold is not well defined) and I have done the following. I enable my sensors as part of a Goodnight scene, as well as part of a schedule at midnight (in case the Goodnight scene doesn't get set for some reason). Included in the Good Morning scene is a disable for the sensor however a schedule also disables the sensor at Sunrise (in case the Good Morning scene doesn't get set for some reason).
