    Hello all,

I am in need of some help!! So here is what i am doing:

I have a stand alone DMX controller that has in built Port triggering to externally trigger a scene/mode etc.The problem is the port for triggering is controlled using an 8 bit system for a range of 0-255 bits out. Each of these individual 256 channels will dictate a set 'scene' or 'mode'.

This brings me to my next question. Is there a cBus unit that outputs a 0-255 bit range to input into this trigger port?

So i would like an input off a DLT to count up in bits (eg 0,1,2,3,4,5.....255) on each bell press to cycle through the 'scenes'. Obviously there needs to be some logic in there with the counting. Is the 0-10V analogue output module the answer?

Thanks for your input guys... look forward to it :)

What exactly is the port on the DMX controller? Is it an analog to digital input? I would have thought this would be unreliable as you will always get a bit of noise & jitter in the A/D value, so the scenes will move around.

If it is an 8 bit digital port (so 8 on/off inputs interpreted as a byte value 0-255) then you could probably use an L5108RELVP controlled by logic in a PAC or Wiser or touch screen.

What you are after can be implemented at so many different levels, it's difficult to make a useful suggestion.
Do you want each press of a DLT switch to always advance the 'scene'?
What form is the DMX controller 8 bit input? is is serial? is it parallel? is it 0-5V logic levels or is it looking for switch contacts?
Is this a one-off situation? Is it a new installation? (the new eDLT may offer some features you need for this)
    Are you using other equipment?
If you have a C-Bus PC Interface / CNI connected to an intermediate control system, you can accept C-Bus commands and extract the lighting level, then present the level to the DMX controller in any form you want, but this is getting down to a pretty low level.

    Hello,

Thank you both for your quick replies. Perhaps i should have made things a little more clear...

It is a HE10 connector which looks for 8 individual digital bits in conjuction with one another to create an address 0-255 which then corresponds with my third party device to select a given 'scene'.

I was kind of hoping there was a little 'less expensive' way for doing this then using the L5108RELVP. This is a good option though :)

This is a new installation as i am building in the coming months. It will be very much permanent. I won't be extracting any information from cbus and writing the levels elsewhere. I was just wanting to know if there was a less expensive way and more 'suited' way to do this...

Thanks again for the help :)
