I have noticed when I look for window actuators in association with c-bus they always seem to be DC 24V and require at least 2 transformers to be wired Is there any reason why I can't use a 230v window actuator and a shutter relay? I would prefer this rather than have extra transformers lying around.

C-Bus home automation control of 230VAC window actuators.

    Hi Clips-al,

If you can obtain some window actuators with open/close 230VAC motor connections, and you can install 230VAC cable to them, then you may usually use the C-Bus Blind control relay to operate them (using one C-Bus home automation blind control relay per actuator).

You should also confirm that the AC actuator simply requires live AC on one input to open, live AC on the other to close, and the interlocking and changeover time delay supported by the C-Bus Blind control relay. The C-Bus blind control relay also supports proportional open/close control, whereby you may set the C-Bus group address level to say 30% and have the window open to 30% of the fully open position and stop there.

Based upon that diagram it appears that the manufacturer may be indicating that multiple units of that type may be connected to a shared C-Bus blind control relay. If I were you I would email the manufacturer to confirm this.

As usual, when purchasing from overseas you also need to confirm that any mains device you import meets all of your local safety regulations.

Excuse my crude drawing but this is a method that I have successfully used on chain window winders to enable reversing of polarity to obtain open and close functions from a single power supply. The relays are DC rated 240v AC coil and are driven by a c-bus shutter relay and are shown drawn in the un-energised state.
