If I create a number of component groups and then use the align command, the grouping is ignored and each component inside the group is aligned individually. I assume this is the designed behaviour, but is not what you would normally expect with groups. Once I create a group I would expect it to act as a single component with its element locked in their relative positions. Also, if I create a group with grid snapping turned off, if I then turn on grid snapping and select the group, every element in the group immediately moves to the grid and destroys my careful work (this happens with individual components too if you just select them to edit properties which is very frustrating). It's even more interesting if you use the ALIGN-SPACE EVENLY command on multiple groups as you end up with components scattered seemingly random around the screen.

Is there anyway of changing the grouping behaviour, or possibly add this as a future enhancement.

The alignment of groups was mostly fixed in PICED V4.5. If you are not already doing so, update to the latest version.

The other issues will be looked at.

I'm actually running 4.6.1 but had only tried the distribute command since upgrading which still has the same problems. The align left/right/top/bottom works fine now thank you. Must read the release notes more carefully next time :)

Any chance of performing the same magic on the distribute command in coming releases? Also groups still aren't very happy when you have a grid turned on.
