Anyone know if any brands of AC split systems that have the ability to be switched on and ff via a dry relay contact?

I know Daiken do via a relay interface board however they are too expensive for this job so I am wondering in Panasonic, LG, Mitsubishi, Fujitsu etc etc etc do anything along these lines?

Don't want or need external thermostat control, just switching the system on and off.

Appreciate any feedback on what brand/s has this capability.

    Regards,

If all you want is on and off then a very rough solution would be to use a system that has an auto start option and then just switch the AC into the system.

    Hi Ashley,

Thanks for that. Yes that is an option but it would be nice if a brand existed with a "soft start" via relay.

Prefer not thumping the power to the unit.

I believe Actron offer this as their automation solution

    From their web page

"Home automation compatible for ON/OFF control of your air conditioning system"

    http://actronair.com.au/standard

    Thanks...

Found out Fujitsu ASTA 18/24/30/34 series will do it to.

Just be a little careful. Some A/C systems need a PULSE to turn them on or off, and generating pulses can be a little exciting. Check carefully.

    Hi Ashleigh,

    Thanks for that.

The Fujitsu models I quoted work off a dry relay contact and will only switch the unit on when the relay is closed and off when open. I had Fujitsu send me the "Signal Specification" for the external control.

Valid point you raised all the same.

You will need to contact Fujitsu and confirm which models the their relay interfaces work with. The two I successfully interfaced to are Fujitsu AUTA36LCLU Cassette system, ASTA24JCC Split System.

If you are an integrator contact 02 8822 2500 (Fujitsu) they can let you know the models that are designed to work with the relay interfaces and will provide integrator support information. You will have to buy the interface boards from their distribution network. If you are not an integrator you will be directed to their distributors. I found a them very helpful.

The interface just works and is easy to install and interface to. Run a minium of 4 core cable to the head or cassette 2 for control and the interface provides a status which is useful to be able to read and lets you keep things in sync if your automation side support it.

    hi

hi you can modify pcb control .. please check daikin wiring diagram (only on and OFF), for indoor motor speed , they use pulse from IC, you need additional component system to do.

    cheers
