Just on the off-chance, has anyone on here had experience connecting a "Fairland" brand swimming pool heat pump into a c-bus install?

I've contacted the manufacturer to see if it can be connected to a c-bus output for control of temperature setting/power/etc in the same way as most airconditioners but they haven't got back to me.

    Thanks

You may want to look at a C-Bus enabled pool controller

    http://www.aqualine.com.au/ are a c-bus enabled.

    There may be others.

Thanks, how do those connect to the heat pump?

Is there a standard interface for example? This heat pump has its own dedicated digital controller at the moment with a 3 wire connection back to the main unit.

    Cheers

It's more than likely that 3-wire connection is a proprietary connection that will only work with the manufacturer's hardware, meaning you will not be able to directly interface the unit with C-Bus.

You will most likely have to interface things using dry contacts, providing of course that your unit has any, or if you can find any interfaces between your unit and either Ethernet (TCP/IP)/ModBus/etc, then there are a few more options available to you. It all just depends on what kind of interfaces your unit has.
