    Hi
I`m working on a job where the customer wants to use a mix of c bus input devices & conventional mechanical switches.Could i use cat 5 cable between the mechanical switches & an auxilary input unit or does the cable csa need to be larger.
I know the max impedance for the switch & cable is 1000 ohms but not quite sure how to work this out.Max cable length would be about 50m.
    cheers.........Pete

50m of almost any cable you can find would be well under 1k ohms.

Note that there is also the option of the bus coupler if you can locate it close to the mechanical switch (they're designed to fit inside the wallbox behind a switch) however if you have no choice but to do a 50m run then you are correct in selecting the Aux Input unit.
