    hi there,
thanks for all your info on the forum its really helped.
this is my first post and have a few questions that im sure have easy answers!!

    1. i have an installation that has about 15 light circuits that control most outside, garden, pond and pool lights. The client wants them to be switched from various neos and dlts in the house, with this i have no prob. My client wants the same circuits to all be controlled by a light sensor so that they come on when its dark. i thought of creating a scene in my touch screen called day/night and have the light sensor trigger that scene on and off. How would i go about programming this and if this is not the correct solution what should i be doing?

    2. how do i trigger a scene created on the touch screen with a key from a neo or dlt?

    thanx for the help
    Etienne

    Hi Etienne,

    In respect to point 2

    2. how do i trigger a scene created on the touch screen with a key from a neo or dlt?

Look at this thread and see how you go. http://www.cbusforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2386

As for the day / night triggering of GAs why don't you use the schedule in the B7W touch screen.

    Regards

I'd make 2 scenes - one for "night" and one for "night off".

Add all the existing groups to the first scene, set the levels amd save it.

Then copy that scene in a new name "off scene" and edit all the levels to zero.

The 2 separate on and off scenes can then be easily triggered by schedules in the Touch Screen. They can also be used as a "panic - exterior on" and "all exterior off" from a key input elsewhere in the house (if required).

As Jesmond said, the schedules in B&W are perfect for the automation like you described. Better than using "times", set up the Time Zone etc on the screen so that Sunset is calculated automatically. Then program the On scene to be triggered at (say) SUNSET - 1 HOUR and the OFF scene triggered at (say) 12.00pm.

It would be worthwhile also having some way of over-riding the scenes (making them active / inactive). In that way, if you wanted the leave the lights on later than (say) 12.00 you could do so. But that's a bit more complex

    Cheers, John

    thanx for your help,
all the lights circuits that i want to control on the light sensor all will come on when it is dark and stay on till the sun rises in the morning. The other thing that concerns me is that if the lights are controlled by a schedule, they wont switch on during the day if the wheather bad and theres not much sun, that is why i thought of the light sensor route!

Sorry, I missed the light sensor comment in your first post

Yes - using a light sensor to trigger the scenes would probably work out better if you need the lights to come on during dark daytime.

But in my experience (since I am not good at making Light Sensors work properly) I've found its usually easier and more reliable to use Schedules.

    scene trigger

    1. open your project
    2. select scenes
    3. select the scene you want to trigger
    4. click edit
    5. on the top right of this screen select scene trigger
    6. select the details of the group address and level that you would like to trigger this scene i.e./ GA outside lights at 100% trigger night scene

when the PIR sets this group address to 100 % it will trigger the relevant scene. You may need to set another scene and trigger to turn off the actions of this scene i.e./ GA outside lights at 0% trigger day scene

    Hope this helps

    Peter Brown

Sorry delete PIR and insert Light Level Sensor.
