    Hi all,

    Have been lurking around for some time, and have learned much from these forums, (thanks all!). I am installing C-Bus in my new home with a sparks to wire up for me, and DIY programming........... So far so good, everything works, even though I had a few snags, mostly tracked down answers here, thanks again!

    I have a "keston qudos 28 s" boiler which has a 0-10v input for using external control panels, I also have a L5504AMP and a PAC. would it be possible to control the boiler (with the inclusion of a temp sensor) to do this? If so, is it just a case of writing some logic in the PAC? or is there more to it?

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Excerpt from boiler manual:-

    Analog Demand (0-10VDC)
    Where external control panels are used, in boiler room applications, a
    0-10VDC input can be connected to the boiler, in place of the SL1
    switched live demand. The 0-10VDC signal will drive the first setpoint at
    1VDC = 10C setpoint (NB: <0.5VDC is off, >8.0 VDC is 80C)

    Sounds to me like a PAC + analogue output unit would be able to do all sorts of clever things.

    If you write your own control logic for this, you will have a few things to check, think about, or take into account. Things like possible safety interlocks (may all be done for you), and response time. These are most likely the biggies.

    Response time refers to things like thermal lags (if you reduce the demand, how long does the boiler take to respond? It is a long time does this mean you should anticipate the trend of boiler temperature / behaviour, and perhaps wind it back earlier?) This may or may not be a big deal, its just that it needs to have a little consideration.

    Thanks Ashleigh,

    I was hoping it would be a simple thing to do, I shall speak to the techie's at Keston and get some info, then I suppose it's in at the deep end!
