Is there any docs on how to use the C-Bus relay's interlocking function. I mean, for example, how to interlock channel 1 and 2 OR channal 5/6 and 7/8...etc.

The type of operation you're describing is not possible with the interlocking that's build into the output units. For that sort of thing you'd need a PAC.

Put simply, if you assign the interlocking to 3 then the first 3 channels will be interlocked. What this means is that if any of the groups controlling the first 3 channels are turned on then only the highest channel number will be turned on, all others will be off.

If you are looking at interlocking for the purposes of motorised blinds or the like then do not rely on "soft" interlocking alone. Make sure you electrically interlock your circuits and allow for 500ms before changing motor directions. If you would like some pics on electrical interlocking with C-Bus yell !

Thanks guys, I was confused by the word "interlock" in the software.:p

We always use electrical interlocks for motor blinds etc. I thought we could save some. Anyway, I would now want to know what is the purpose or usual application of such software interlock?

One that immediately comes to mind is 3 speed fan control.

    Interlocking

I've always used 2 channels of a relay wired through a mechanical interlock.

No programming can destroy the motors.

There was quite a famous series of accidents with a radiation therapy machine (for treating cancer) that killed 5 people.. partly because the system relied on Software Interlocks..

I know you're not building a Radiation Machine :) I just find the story interesting and thought others might too.

One dodgy implementation of a hardware interlock could easily be just as damaging. I guess the difference is the fact that more people are capable of inspecting and understanding physical things.

setting a flag by incrementing! what was the programmer thinking?
