I was looking at the new thermostats that are on page 23 of this
    http://www.cbusforums.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=680&d=1160892301
I have next to now experience with HVAC so what does it mean when it says single zone with 5 relays (I understand the zone part) relays for HVAC plant control only, not accessible via C-Bus.

Are these the relays that control the outdoor unit?

My understanding of what the wording of that states is that the relays inside the thermostat units, that would be wired into the Air Con / Heating / etc, are only directly controllable via the thermostats themselves, and that commands via C-Bus cannot directly control these relays.

I'm ASSUMING (nothing more) that this means that you may POSSIBLY be able to control the settings of the thermostat via C-Bus, but not directly turn the devices connected to the thermostat relays on or off.

    Just my interpretation... :)

Ahh - That actually makes sense. Direct control of the relays would probably not be good. I guess the thinking is you adjust the settings and then the thermostat makes the necessary changes via the relays.

Wonder when we will see this product and its pricing?

    relay functions

I suppose functions of these relays would be:
    1. fan control
    2. heat stage 1
    3. heat stage 2
    4. cool stage 1
    5. cool stage 2

Direct control the relays is not good, because wrong programming will case to damage HVAC equipment or overheat/overcool your room!

Yes, this would be a typical use for the relays.

YES. The relays are controlled by the thermostat. Having a standard cbus device control the relays that in turn control the HVAC plant would be a bad thing.

The thermostat CAN ALSO control a standard cbus output unit so that you can use those relays instead of built-in relays, should that be desired.

NOTE that the internal relays are designed for HVAC use, they are 24 V ac rated. They are NOT standard cbus relays suitable for switching mains loads at a gazillion amps. They MUST NOT be connected to the 240V mains.

    As to when: Soon.

    Pricing: Call your sales rep.

Do we have the manual available for thermostat?

I'am installing/programing C-bus in a couple of months now and I enjoys working with c-bus, do have the manual available for the thermostat?
Doest thermostat set in a C-bus network? and also need supply from the network? is'nt it stand alone?.

The thermostat derives all it's power from the C-Bus network and it must be part of a C-Bus network to operate.
