    Hi Graeme,

The software is still beta so many things aren't complete or as optimal as they can be. The documentation is being written and will be made available when it's ready.

Meanwhile be sure to checkout the tutorials some of the dev guys have put together to give you a jump start.

    http://www.cbusforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=28

However... it would be absolutely fantastic if you could write down what about the software you found confusing, things you misunderstood or in your view a re wrong etc... all of this can go a longway to allowing us to make the software easier to use. This sort of feedback is *very* valuable.

Well Richo thanks for the reply, for one thing I can not connect to the PCI so I can go no further ??
I have put it on three different PCs and can not connect, one has never had the cbus system on it.
If I use the older ver all is OK, I can log onto the network and view all items. The settings were setup the same Com 1 Serial connection but NO GO

    Graeme,

Have a look in the C-Bus Toolkit Forum, there is a thread on network scan problems with the new software. Similar problems have been reported, and the CIS folk are looking into it. From Duncan's last post, it looks like he needs more info on the problem, perhaps you could help!

Yes we do have one other report.. some more information would indeed be helpful... PCI Firmware version.. error messages, what steps you're using to attempt the connection..

    Thanks Graeme,

It certainly appears related to your PCI..

Using 2.7.5 you can retrieve the firmware version by scanning the Network then opening up the programming interface for your PCI.. in the top left of your screen you'll see something like:

"PC_LOCAL Firmware Version 3.11" in a blue font..

Having the firmware version will really help us.

Thanks for taking the time to try it on 3 PC's.. much appreciated!

OK thanks for that.. I'm having a 3.06 PCI built and we'll do some specific tests against it.

OK we built a 3.06 PCI and we've replicated this problem. This will be fixed ASAP.

I feel it might be a problem with the particular USB interface, we'll try and buy one tomorrow and do some testing with it.

Have you used the cbus devkit or diagnostic program on this PCI?

If you have, make sure the PCI has NOT been set to EXSTAT or LOCAL_SAL mode.

If you have the devkit or diagnostic programs, and have set either of these modes, clear those settings before trying again.

Yes, diagnostic program. Have unchecked Local_Sal. Tried again to connect with Tool Kit but alas same problems still exist when using both adaptors.

Diagnostic utility V1.3 (I'm positive I downloaded V1.4 but program tells me it is V1.3).
When connection is established with Diag Util, program activates Local_Sal. Using mode setup I uncheck Local_Sal, if I close down Diag Util then reopen Local_Sal is once again checked. Is this correct?

Thats very strange. V4 PCI will just change the setting as instructed, and as far as I'm aware the diagnostic program does not care about LOCAL_SAL one way or the other.

Also, there should be a checkbox for setting the PCI power up settings. Make sure you turn off LOCAL_SAL, and every other option. (This is known as "basic" mode.) Make sure the option to set this as the power up default IS checked, and save all these changes to the PCI.

Then disconnect Diag program, and re-try.

My previous information was slightly incorrect

Diagnostic program is not reactivating Local_Sal. Network Connection using Toolkit is reactivating PCN, Local_Sal, and PUN.

I can connect to network using Toolkit via Project Manager select project, select and open network, then scan network. This works everytime.
It is only when using scan network and search for network on Toolkit Start Page that I am mostly unsucessful.

    My apologies for inaccurate information.

My Thread seems different since I was last here ?
O well some success today well a lot actually, connected to Test bed in workshop using another PC Interface we use to connect to Main Hospital System.
Sorry I am at home now and do not have the Firmware Numbers to report now but it is working in the workshop System too, using the above PCI.
Each system is different the Test Bed is the old type items, once again I do not have the details at the moment sorry but the Relay unit is the type you screw in the cables to small terminals and the dimmer, switches connect the same way.
This earlier type CBUS parts will not show ther Status ? but we can change there setting much easier with the new software.
One strange thing we noticed is the Movement Detector (sorry can not remember it true name) when set to operate as Day Night mode switch will not operate. But in the detection mode it works ok ?
The Maint Building system is a later type Din rail type, more functions in the software is available, such as the Status of some of the Relays etc yet to check all items but we are making some headway at last :D
I intend to contact Clipsal at Padstow and put myself and workmate down for the Training course (Basic and Inter.) should I wait till some of the bugs have been fixed ??

    Regards

    Graeme
