Is it possible for tool kit to run via a c-gate on another pc ? or does it need to be on the local machine

    Thanks Michael

You will need the toolkit App on the machine in question so you will have C-Gate on the local machine as a result.

Top left hand corner "File" disconnect from the Local Repository and select Connect to Remote Repository. ( I am always worried I will use the word supository). Of course you will need network access to the remote machine that has C-Gate - IP addresses etc. :)

I am pretty sure the answer to that one is NO.

Toolkit, PICED, SP etc are version specific to the correct version of C-Gate. C-Gate comes bundled as part of the installer downloads for these programs.

Toolkit and PICED are free so why bother with C-Gate on its own. Unless you are on dial up and don't want the large install files ???

If you don't want the apps on the remote machine, install toolkit which will install C-Gate then get rid of Toolkit leaving C-Gate in place...

    Hope that makes sense

Not yet. But it's definitely on the roadmap - I won't say when though.

I have the requested setup currently. CGate is running on a Linux machine, and accessed from a Windows laptop as required. Home automation software connects to CGate to manipulate the lighting.

It is very simple task to copy the CGate directory to whichever machine as required. You don't need an installer program to configure anything complex. Just ensure you have Java available at the new machine. For the Linux (Fedora) case, I have a standard /etc/init.d script to automatically start/stop CGate at bootup/shutdown.

Whenever I install a new version of Toolkit, I copy across the new CGate Java executable only. (Unless it is a major version change in which case the config files can be useful!)
