I now have my system in and running.

I have 21 Saturn DLT's and these will not program globally. I can set the units screen and indicator parameters individually no problems. The application actually sees and selects all on the network and checks the boxes. I then set the parameters and apply it.

Toolkit then says it successfully has carried out the global programming. On checking the Saturn DLT's no changes to the previous are seen.

I can successfully global program DImmer Min/max etc.

I am running 1.8.0 and can see no reference in 1.8.1 and 1.8.2 that this has been a reported and corrected issue.

    A head scratcher!

    I see another 78 head scratcher's here too! :)

I wonder if CIS check the global programming with the large numbers of physical units connected to a network??

    Cheers,

    Hi fleetz,

I'll have a go at this tomorrow myself, and see what I can find.

Just to clarify, though, Global Programming performs changes on database units only, so if you've got matching network and database units, you'll have to transfer the programming to your network units after the global programming is complete.

Errr... you would be rather gobsmacked at the size and complexity of the networks we test against. Sometimes whoopsies slip through. Hope to have an answer for you soon.

A new TK is in the offing, IF there is a problem, and its feasible to slip a change in a the lost moment, we'll try. If its a genuine problem thats difficult, the fix will be longer in coming.

    Hi Ashleigh,

Dam I was hoping you were going to say it was the way I click my mouse! :)

Please let me know if there are any checks you require from my side. It is not life threatening as I have been able to set all the DLT's to the required setup however if the good lady wife suggests that the backlight brightness on all the units need to go up a tad then it may become life threatening!.... Her's!!!:D

Thanks for hoping in and having a look.

    Regards,

    Fleetz

    Hi MIB,

I actually caught your reply after I responded to Ashleigh's. I have been on the network with matched database and network units. I then open the Global Program application make the changes and apply. Are you saying you should not be connected to the network when doing Global changes?

I have not found any clear instructions on Global programming it looked very straight forward.

Ashleigh before your rip into the issue can we get a pointer to some instructions????? It may well be how I have been clicking my mouse!!!:)

    Regards,

    Hi fleetz,

It does not matter whether you're connected to your C-Bus network or not.

The Global Programming function only applies the changes to database units, so if you have some units that are matched on the database and network, and then apply a Global Programming wizard, the wizard will only save the changes to the database version of your unitys. You will need to select these units in the database view and click the "Transfer to Network" button to transfer these new changes to the network.

You can select multiple units to transfer by holding either Control or Shift and clicking subsequent units.

    Hope this helps!

    Cheers MIB,

I have been successful with the transfer from the database to the network! Thanks for the heads up.

The confusing part for me was Toolkit confirm that the transfer had been done when in fact it had not. Also the Dimmer Min/Max was successful direct via the network???

Anyway a happy little puppy here thanks for the input.

Ah, fantastic! Good to see you got it working OK!

Obviously here it looks like usability can be improved in the software. Something to be looked at I think... ;)

I've logged a defect already to get the notes and warnings tarted up. It looks like it only needs better explanation... so we'll have a crack at that. Cross yer fingers it will be in Toolkit 1.9 (unless disaster strikes).

    Hi Ashliegh,

Good call.... there definitely needs a bit of tightening up of the consistency of the Global Programming functionality and or the explanation.

The global function is indeed a very useful tool!:)
