I have moved into a house that has prewired phone sockets in each room. I have been trying to get them working as internet ports to no avail. The single phone line into the house goes into the back of the 8052/4rj, and all the various ports around the house are near the hub so they can be plugged into it.

Whenever i hook a computer up to the hub, the phone stops working. From what i have read since on the hub it appears to be voice only.

My question is,, is there anyway i can use the current setup and add something to it or change the config so i can get internet to go to the ports i choose around the house? Or would i just have to upgrade to another hub.

Please let me know if / what other information would be of use in trying to sort this out .

    Thank you

This technology only joins phones lines to wall sockets. It has nothing to do with Ethernet.

You might want to avoid pumping 115V into your computer.

You get out what you put in

The "wall sockets" are simply wires back to the main panel. Whatever source you plug into the wires at the main panel, will be what appears at the corresponding room. So if you plug "room a" into the phone hub at the main panel, then you will get a phone line at "room a".

How do you expect to get "the internet" off a phone line? You can't simply stick a computer onto a phone line. You need something in between to make that work. If you have ASDL to provide your internet service over the phone line, then you need to get the ASDL splitter and modem "in line" and then you can feed it around your house.

Unfortunately for you there seems to be no labelling or instructions, hence making the "smart house" system almost useless to the user.
