clipsal key pads & lutron homeworks

    Hi, does any one know of a way to use clipsal keypads with a lutron homeworks system.Possible to talk rs232 to the lutron ?

    In theory it's possible, but it's definitely in the realms of a long and potentially tedious task. You would need to have a C-Bus network, consisting of switches, at least 1 power supply and a C-Bus Pascal Automation Controller (5500PAC). The RS-232 port on the 5500PAC would then need to be interfaced to some sort of serial device in the Lutron system and you'd need to write a whole stack of logic in the 5500PAC to make it generate commands that the Lutron system would accept. You'd need to know the Lutron protocol as well as have a good understanding of how C-Bus works to glue the two together.

    If the specific Lutron system has interface devices that support dry contact inputs, and it's just the look of C-Bus switches that you're after, then you'd be far better off using the Clipsal electromechanical key pads and connecting them to such an interface device.
