    I have a CNI, Mfg 08-Sep-2003, that has worked in the past, today when I connected the ethernet to the device I got amber led to start, then off, then two flashes & to solid red, which remains. I know my ethernet is good.
    When I connect directly to my PC via a x over cable I get a connection at 10 Mbps, however I cannot connect to the unit in any way via ethernet.

    Am I missing something?

    Any ideas?

    Steve,
    First of all what is the firmware of the CNI?
    Secondly, are you able to ping it at any point?

    How exactly does the Ethernet LED blink, because there is a difference. Below is a list of all the known LED "blinking" conditions.

    Red (solid)
    Network collisions.

    Red (solid), Green (blink)
    1x = EPROM Checksum error
    2x = RAM Error
    3x = Network Controller Error
    4x = EEPROM Checksum Error
    5x = Duplicated IP Address on the Network

    Red (blink), Green (blink)
    4x = Faulty Network Connection
    5x = No DHCP responce received

    This is the information i found direct from lantronix. I have a feeling it may be a duplicated IP address.
    I hope this helps

    My 5500 CNI seems to have started to play up.
    It has been working fine for years and now (just after starting the use the C-ChangePHP web access) it loses connection and either reboots or hangs

    I have so far tried the following.

    Set up PRTG to ping unit every 60 secs to see how long it stays up.

    Both CBUS and Ethernet cables plugged in.
    Reboots in less than 2 mins.
    Ran IP Utility, this showed me that it was rebooting.
    It showed me the units IP address but nothing else.
    Unlug all cables and power supply for a minute.
    Plug in powers supply
    Plug in ethernet cables.
    Same problem.
    Tried a few times

    Ran Lantronix program
    Could not get the units config
    Tried a few times

    Unplug all ethernet cables and power.
    Plug in power supply and ethernet cable (no cbus).

    IP utility now shows gateay, netmask and tcp port details.
    Lantronix now could get config.
    Says it is using firmware 4.4 for device.

    Device stayed up and running for more than 10 minutes this time.
    Now it is hung again.

    CBus port is solid RED (not plugged in)
    Ethernet port is solid green.
    Other end of ethernet port plugged into switch says no cable connected.

    Unplug power for 1-2 mins.
    Plug in power.
    CBUS light solid red (no cable)
    Ethernet orange.
    IP utility set to scan every 60 seconds.
    Unit went offline in less than 2 minutes.

    Unplug power for 2 mins.
    Plug power back in, ethernet light went straight to solid green.

    Unplug power for 2 mins.
    Unplg ethernet from switch.
    Plug in ethernet
    Plug in power.

    CBUS and ethernet lights both show orange.
    After 2 minuts, unit hung again.
    Ethernet light is again solid green.

    Is there a way to factory reset or is the unit broke is my question now.

    PS - I unplugged th ethernet cable and the power, waited and then plugged in the power, so ethernet is not in but c-bus cable is in.
    After a short while, the ethernet port is still solid green again, without being plugged inn

    Hello Martin
    Can you access the browser config page for the unit.
    You can reset to defaults there.
    I wonder if some of the programs accessing the unit might be causing the lock up.

    Do you mean via HTTP or Lantronix?

    I just noticed that a Laptop still had C-ChangePHP running, the WEB page was set to do an automatice refresh every 30 seconds.

    I have since killed the web browser on that laptop and also changed the web page to NOT auto refresh.

    I will see how it goes now as IP Utility now works and shows that it is still online.
    PRTG shows that it has been up for 50 minutes.

    So, it looks like the C-ChangePHP web page in refresh mode was causing the problem.

    Update - so far it has been up for over 1 hour and all is OK, I could even access it via a HTTP web page.

    Yeah on your browser via http.
    It has a reset to factory settings there.
    I have used it a few times.
    It keeps IP settings so you wont have to start from scratch.
    I had a problem with the CNI locking using an app for iPhone from Touchsoft.
    Hitting the update settings tab would reboot the CNI and fix it.
