    Hi,
I have a 5500CN network interface. Manufactured 2/8/04. I have had trouble with it from day one.

The problem is when I connect the cbus cable to it, it shorts out the cbus network. All light switches go out and the b&w touch screen resets. If I use the same cbus cable into a PC interface the cable and PC interface works fine, so it seems to be the CNI. Is there something in the config settting for the CNI that could be causing this.

The network interface seems to work fine. I can assign an IP address and telnet to it and look at all the settings on port 9999

Lantronixs installer tells me the CNI is a firmware type 3L version 5.20

    Hope you can help

I think you've answered your own question, the C-bus lead appears ok, the network runs when the CNI is disconnected and the Lantronix side of the CNI works. There is no setting in the CNI that will cause it to short out the bus, so the conclusion has to be a faulty CNI.

I'm sure the nice people at Tech Support will arrange a repair or replacement for you (as long as when it comes back it hasn't been used for chocking the door open or as a candle holder etc). Mind you it is well out of warrenty, if the manufactuing date is to be believed, if as you say it has never worked you might have been better off getting it sorted out back then.
