Thankyou MrMark for advising how to repair the unit,
Thanks to Kevinqpsd for sharing the solution,
Thanks to Sea Captain for recommending to replace C81 without disassembling the unit.

Happy Days,...until the next CBus problem!

My CTC hasn’t been sending cbus commands for while. So i changed the capacitor a few weeks ago. The CTC has been working perfect.
Then I had a client with the same problem. So this evening I changed the capacitor very easily. But when I put it all back together the screen doesn’t come on. It beeps when you touch it. I have taken it apart a few times and checked all the connections and still no look.
Does anyone know what to look at and anywhere in the uk that will look at it. Or maybe if it come to it send it to Australia.

    thanks

    Hi Ben,
I used to work for Arbor, the original manufacturer of the color touch screen (And now JEA Technologies is currently the authorized Clipsal repairer of these units), the transmit issue is a known problem in the CTC1 and CTC2 units only, the cct was changed for the CTC3 unit it will never have the same problem. Your problem of not working when reassembled could be many things but first try the small 4 pin cable that provides power to the LCD back light inverter PCB.
Also another common one is on CTC2 units the small DC-DC converter box on the power line has inbuilt protection and wont restart if it detects a problem., to fix this turn off the AC supply and wait for 2 mins then restart the power, if it is ok a green led should light up on the side of the box. Also ensure that both PCB's are firmly pushed together during reassembly. Anything else and you can contact me via email. I have in the past sold and purchased touch screens from all over the world including the UK.

Thats sort of ok then, check the 3 pin cable plugged into the backlight inverter pcb. If you very careful you can check the voltage on the pcb connector, if it is 0v and 5v and something in between short out the 5v and thd something in between, this will drive the inverter pcb full on, BUT ONLY YOR A SECOND, incase you short out the 5v to ground. Should be enough timevto see if screen comes on.
Next foes the screen come on at all during boot up.
    Last check
Can you guess were buttons on the screen are... if so give it tine to boot up the press were you think light switch buttons are if they turn on/off then you need a new lcd or inverter pcb. Very uncommon to have no voltage going from the pcb to the inverter but possible, this would need some small transistors to be replaced....

    Hi Trevor,

I got it working today. I had got the 3 pin connector the wrong way. When I checked the voltage it didn’t make sense so swapped it around and the screen worked. thanks
