    Good day,

    1) I've inserted a PS2 mouse into the PS2 connection in CTC. I tried with a USB mouse as well. Mouse cursor does not appear in CTC screen for both case. Have anyone used mouse to click on the buttons in CTC? Pls advise.

2a) Backlight does not goes out after time-out duration as stated in the manual:
"The backlight goes off after the time-out duration (set on the Project Options page)"
It only goes off when the light sensor is covered (not according to the manual). Is there other things to set?

2b) I've created button doing the special functions. However, i found out that there is no respond when i press those buttons. How exact this functions work?

    Special Functions:
Backlight Bright - set the backlight level to the brighter setting
Backlight Dim - set the backlight level to the dim setting

    CTC SW Version: 3.6.0.0

    Thanks

    Rgds

There should be no need to use a mouse with the touch screen. If you do, you will need to use a PS2 "splitter" which enables both a keyboard and mouse to be connected. Without this, only a keyboard can be connected. To see the mouse cursor, you will need to change the Control Panel settings, but this is not recommended.

The backlight description in the manual is not quite correct.

The Colour C-Touch unit has a backlight control algorithm which makes the backlight increase in brightness as the room gets brighter. This ensures that the Colour C-Touch unit is easily readable in all ambient light levels, without being too bright when the room is dark.

The graph on the Utilities page shows the relationship between the ambient light level and the backlight level. The red line shows the relationship when the screen has been recently touched (ie. it is being used). The blue line shows the relationship when the screen has not been touched for a while (see the help file for details of the time-out duration).

The backlight generally gets brighter as the ambient (room) light level gets brighter. In the example below, the backlight will be at a constant level when the ambient light level is below about 60%. The backlight gradually gets brighter until the light level is around 90%. The backlight is at a constant level when the light level is above about 90%. When the screen has not been touched for some time, the backlight level drops by around 30%.

The sliders control the minimum and maximum level of the light level and the backlight level. The Fall-Back Offset controls how much the backlight will dim by after the screen has not been touched for a while.

The "Backlight Bright" special function makes the backlight change to the brigher level and the "Backlight Dim" makes it changer to the dimmer level.

When I press on either "Backlight Bright" or "Backlight Dim", I can't see that screen turn brighter/dimmer. Are the 2 buttons associated with the backlight minimum/maximum in UTILITIES as follows?
Backlight Bright - change to "backlight maximum" gradually
Backlight Dim - change to "backlight minimum" gradually

    Hi

So.. am I able using this to switch the backlight completely off when the screen hasn't been touched for a while ? I can only set min down to 20.

If so am I able to create a mode where the first 'touch' then just brings the backlight on (if it's off) - and the touch isn't registered as a press on any underlying elements ?

What is the expected life of the backlight and do I really need to worry about these things ?

    K

    No

I just tried my Colour C-Touch and can set it to 5. I am not sure why you can't get less than 20.

The fluorescent backlight on the Colour C-Touch tends to flicker at levels lower that that, which is why we have the lower limit.

If you find that this is still too bright, have a time-out page with a black background and white text.

No. We support this for Black and White C-Touch (the old one), but not for the C-Touch Mark 2 or the colour C-Touch.

The life is inversely proportional to the lighting level. So at a level of 50%, it would last twice as long as at 100%.

I don't have the figures in front of me, but I think we were expecting 10 years or so for typical use. The backlight is a replaceable component.
