We have just finished install our first two Colour C-Touch units and found that you have to press quite firm on the screen to get the button to register to activate a cbus command. By this i mean we have a button on the screen for the garage door and it is controlling via a relay and the button is set to Bell Press and has an active and inactive image. If you touch lightly on the screen the image will change and give indication that the group address has pulsed but you can do this sevral times until you Firmly press the screen??????? then the group address will activate the relay. Is this a design fault as it seems to be the same on all buttons to trigger scenes etc or is there a setting for touch sense in milli secs can someone explain please.

Does anyone at CIS know about this problem with the firm pressing of the screen????????

If the icon on the screen has changed, then you do not need to press any harder, as the press has been detected. Pressing the screen harder does not change what happens in the software.

If the icon on the screen has changed, but the load has not changed, then the most likely cause is C-Bus communications problems. You can activate the Colour C-Touch log and look for error messages to confirm this.

There are two possible causes for what you have seen :
    1. The fact that pressing harder seems to make the load operate could just be a coincidence.
    2. The C-Bus connection could be marginally faulty (open circuit ?) and applying additional pressure is enough to improve it. This seems very unlikely though.

I have played with this a little more and still the same result.
There are two Colour C-Touches with the same programe on the single network. Now one of the Colour C-Touches takes several minutes the boot up and sits there with a black screen until it reboots several times before starting up. Are there any requirements for two touches on the same network? Both are set to DHCP and have different Ip adresses.
Is there a way to default the C-touch that is rebooting?
First thing I did was run the log no problems there, checked all other voltage, connections etc no problems either.

We have tested with up to 10 Colour C-Touch units on one network with no problems. You should make sure that you only have the Scenes, Schedules and logic in one unit.
They normally take a couple of minutes to boot. During this time, the screen will be black for a while. What makes you conclude that the unit is re-booting ?
The CTCClient software which is used to transfer projects to the Colour C-Touch can be used to set the factory default project.
When you say "no problems there", did the log show that commands were being sent to C-Bus when you did a light touch on the screen or not ? You need to activate the log to show transmitted and received C-Bus commands, and make the original problem occur (ie. press the screen and have the load not change). I think that you will find that the C-Touch is actually transmitting a command, but the load is not changing due to network problems.

Bell press buttons for roller doors

With some automatic garage door openers, there is a minimum pulse time to activate the motor. Perhaps its not the harder the press, but perhaps the extended time it often takes to do a "hard" press which activates the door

No. If the icon changes, then the C-Bus message will be sent too. You can't have one without the other. Pressing harder or longer will make no difference.

Pressing longer would make a difference if the button is set up as a Bell Press.

I know that the momentary switch on my garage door opener registers the press (turns the light on) but doesn't open the door if I don't hold it down long enough (I assumed this was crap design of the door opener, but maybe it's meant to be a feature?).

Nathan.. try pressing the button lightly for the same time as you would when you press it hard. If this works, change the button from a Bell Press to a Timer with an expiry function of "OffKey" and a delay of ~2 seconds.

Thanks Guys will try those things tomorrow and let you know
The scenes and logic are on both C-Touches (My stuff up) will remove and try again.
When I mean Booting up several times I can see in the background that homegate starts running the goes blank then the colour c-touch default page stays up for a couple of minutes then homgate loads again then goes black then pressing the screen a couple of times the project start up page comes up.
I assume when doing a transfer if I select load default project this put the C-touch back into default status?
The soft touch is not only on the garage door but also scene selction but I was reading through the errors in the project and we are using a lot of alpha blending icons plus stretched images and it says that this can slow the processor down. does anyone know what the limit is with these?

It is possible that if you have a really big project which takes more than a minute to load, then the colour C-Touch will re-start HomeGate. See what happens if you transfer a smaller project.
It will load the project which is supplied when the Colour C-Touch leaves the factory. This has the Colour C-Touch logo and a message "This unit has not been configured. It needs to be configured before it can be used".
There is no hard limit as such. The more alpha blending and image stretching, the slower things will run. It generally isn't a problem for small areas of alpha blending or small images.
It may be worthwhile testing a project without alpha blending and image stretching to see if it makes a difference.
