Came across and odd behaviour. I am utilising System IOs (time) to run some irrigation stations from a colour touch screen. Done this to give the customer easy access to modify run times per station in the manual irrigation section.
This worked fine for over a year, until last week the customer reported that he could not modify the times.
Checked, and confirmed this, until ..... you navigate to the Tools page, then back, and presto - all is fine.
The CTS was programmed with PICED 4.3, has been updated to 4.8.4, but the problem remains as before. :(

Further to that the customer reports that the CTS is freezing from time to time. Couldn't confirm this, but do not doubt the customers' word.

Personally I suspect a hardware issue, but this would be disappointing, as it is not the first there.

    Any suggestions would be welcome.

    Cheers

    Hi Thomas,

There are a few circumstances that could make the logic engine start, stop, reset. if you start the log running on the colour touch screen and enable 'show logic debug messages' in the options tab you will see when and why the logic engine starts and stops running.
It would also be a good idea to enable 'show usage' in the log options tab. If the information doesn't mean much send it through to tech support we should be able to point you in the right direction.

    Regards,

    Matty

    Hi Matty,

Thank you for the quick reply. I plan to go back there middle next week, and will check as you suggested.

    Hi Matty,

My apologies for the delay, only got to site yesterday. I have taken the logs, but find nothing relating to the Logic engine starting or stopping.
Interestingly this kind of makes sense, after having played around some more. What I found is as follows:

This project uses some specific routines which utilise the logic engine. It is very easy to see if these work, and thus if the logic engine works. Point is, that these routines work perfectly. That while the System IO timer mod doesn't.

The system IO timer mod does not work after Touch Screen re-start or update (updated to 4.9 and reduced the use of quite a bit of alpha blending as well).

The System IO timer mod only works after navigating to the Tools page. Please remember, I do not need to do anything in the Tools section, just go there, and go back to the timer mod, which then works fine.

I have currently no ideas as to what I should do further. I am haapy to send you the logs, just let me have an e-mail address. Tech Support does not support SA (tried many times, got definite answer to that effect), so that won't be any use.

Thank you for your help thus far.

It sounds to me like to diagnose anything further we would need to see the logic code that you're running.

You should be able to archive the project and sent it to matty via PM here.

    Solved

    Hi Nick and Matty,

Wanted to forward the project to you via PM, but could not find a way to do this (plse point me in the right direction for the future). Found no icon or button to attach a file to a PM.

However, upon further fiddling I found what was the problem. Quite simply, navigating to the Tools page requires logging in as a higher level user... and yep, the low level user has no permission to edit sys IOs.
Sorry for the trouble, I had forgotten about that, as I done the set-up a long time ago.

Thank you for your help, much appreciated.
