I have HomeMinder and the manual says it has an X-10 interface built in and that it can be connected to "a suitable X-10 device".

Can anyone suggest a compatible device that I can use to connect HomeMinder to my power lines?

I have a full CBUS system, which is great, but I have an urge to be able to re-power a couple of devices (that don't have IR) and X-10 may just do the job. Especially since I would be able to trigger it from CBUS.

    Thanks,
    Brad.

I also have a vague memory that the RJ12 cable had the plugs reversed at each end.

At least this was the case with my JV102 which really was a X10 Powerhouse module.

Also be aware that what Charlie Crackle ment by 2 way was that if some other device sent X10 codes then Minder would hear them. Not that there is an acknowledge sent back from a device when Minder sends a command.

    X10 is send and pray.

    Cheers

    Thanks for your replies.

I like the idea of keeping it all CBUS, but I dare say the cost difference will be about $80 to add X10 versus $300+ maybe to invest in the wireless gateway. But, I do have 3 phase power and a number of seperate circuits so I'm thinking I may save a fair amount of grief if I go the RF CBUS option.

    Thanks again,
    Brad.

One thing that is very difficult with the X10 interface is Cbus Dimming

say you have a X10 Lamp Module (Ie supports dimming) controlling the bed side lamp and you control this from minder. You can send the appropriate Dimm command and all works fine (there is a noticable delay).

No lets say you want to control the bed lamp from a Cbus wall plate.
you want it to work like all the other cbus dimmer buttons (ie one button on/off and dimm)

This will take a lot of Minder code to acheive this, if at all, because the delay will make the user experence terrible.

X10 is good for controlling the POOL pump out the back. The chistmas lights. The Jumping Castle Air pump motor at the kids party!!

CIS will like to hear you are going the wireless route... May be a bit more expensive but in the end a better solution
