I am a newbie to CBus (well relatively). I have carried out three basic installations through the use of toolkit. However I am now trying to connect my next project but when I scan the network an error message saying it failed to identify the project keeps coming up?

I went in to PICED drew a button and transfered the project (with no real settings) with the firmware****.mot file.

The status lights have stopped flashing but I still cannot connect!

I am prob doing somethong really stupid but could some one point me in the right direction??

    Check your new installation has
    1. power supply
    2. clock enabled
    3. burden connected / enabled
All of these OK - then move on.
Make sure your software Toolkit / PICED is looking at the correct COM port on your PC. Different PC's and different USB serial adaptors = different com port numbers.

Pretty sure your problems with be somewhere in the items above.

Write the above items down under the heading "C-BUS BASICS". In the future if you have problems start with the basics.

I have been programming C-Bus for about 14 years. If I have a connection issue - even after 14 years I still start with the basics. ;)

Often it is all of the above and the best way I have found it to use learn mode to set up the network initially. Let learn mode set up the burden etc and then go into toolkit and then try and set it up properly.

Thanks guys. I needed to enter Learn mode to set the clock! I didnt know this was required as the previous installations I carried out I enable an all on all off switch from learn mode initially and then never had any connection problems!

Can either of you point me in the direction of a good tutorial or literature on how to programme through PICED? I can use toolkit OK but havent tried PICED!

    Thanks again,
    Ruairi

The example files and manuals in the programs/clipsal/piced folder would be a very good place to start, as to are the help files within piced itself...
