    Hi all,

New to C-Bus and new to this forum and excited to be apart of it all. I have recently done the Clipsal training Pathway A which includes basic + touchscreen. So I thought Id try a little C-Bus project of my own in a newly built cinema room at my place, and what a better first project than one that integrates Crestron, using the Training kit I purchased which includes a PC interface with a type B Usb port on the front of it.

I have another two tv areas which both use Crestron, a single room controller (QM-RMC) in each. I have purchased the same controller for this cinema room, the plan is to get the guys in who did the other rooms to come and program this cinema rooms Crestron while incorporating my C-Bus system, nothing fancy just some scenes and blind control.

Anyway to the question. Which is do I need to swap my PC interface which has the Type B usb port on the front to the RS232 interface to allow it all to communicate, Or can i just use a DB9 serial to USB type B adapter?

Thanks and I am sorry if this isn't posted in the correct area.

    Lachlan

You need a RS232 PCI. The USB socket on your USB PCI is for connection to a USB host i.e. PC.

As for the actual interfacing, you'll need your Crestron installer to find or write a C-Bus driver as the Crestron controller by default has no idea what C-Bus is. Quality of the driver may vary as well so make sure it supports everything you want it to do.

Appreciate the response, will source an RS232 module then. As for the driver I recall seeing someone on here selling one so ill look into that.

    Cheers.
