Dali Commissioning

Dear Friends,
We have installed 40 C-BUS DALI GATEWAYS and there are almost 50 Osram dali ballasts in each network. We dont have any other devices with us to programme the system. Please advice, what are the additional equipments required and how to do the programming successfully. This is our first project with C-Bus DALI gateway. Right now we are unable to control the lights.

You need to commission the Dali network using some sort of Dali commissioning software. Your Dali vendor should have something available.

 

Osram people are telling, they only supply the ballast, seimens and some other manufactuares of lighting control are doing the programming directly.

 

Haven't we all heard that line from Osram before

First thing you have to remember bijoykr is that Dali and C-Bus are two seperate systems and you need to program each system. You use Toolkit for the C-Bus side and then you need some Dali programming software or device to do the Dali side. Atco have a program call WinDim or theres one call DaliTool, if you do a google search you might be able to find them (you will need to get a Dali PC interface to use with any of the software). There is also some companies that make handheld devices that you can program Dali with.

 

DALI Broadcast

Hiya,

For a quick fix to get some lights on you can map C-Bus groups to DALI Broadcast commands. This will set all ballasts on the DALI network to the same level.

If you need some help on the DALI tools, i would suggest having a chat to the Tech Support guys in Adl. They have some experience with DALI jobs and should be able to recommend some of the better tools and software...

Its shown one DALI power supply in the diagram, also mentioned as note DALI power supply is not provided by clipsal, there is no power supply supplied by OSRAM, what we can do for DALI power supply,
is it possible to use tridonic power supply for Osram ballasts?
can we do the pragramming with out DALI powersupply using WINDIM and Tridonic DALI RS232 interface?

 

Also I would like to know, After programming the particular network, do we need DALI -RS232 interface for that particular network to run the system?

 

Yes you can use the Tridonic power supply on any DALI system, you will need one per DALI network. You can buy them through clipsal (they come as a pack with the DALI module)
You can't do any programming with out having the power supply

You don't need to leave the DALI to RS232 SCI connected once it's programming

osram are suck... they don't have any tools for commissioning dali. unlike tridonic they have windim or config tools.. but for me, if you haven't bought the RS232 interface, better u get the usb type and use the config tools. it more easy and user friendly rather than windim.

for osram as i know, they only have dali luminare tools. it use to setting the luminare of the lamp, and only can program per 4 dali ballast. the commisioning tools are come with they dali controler, something like using the RF type.
