    Hi,

We're quoting on job with about 25 DALi networks, but they want C-Bus UI's. We need to decide between 2 options. Go the known CBUS/DALI gateway route or another way as suggested by Tridonic.
They have a new DALI>TCP/IP interface module whereby the DALI commands are all converted onto TCP/IP and then controlled from winDIM@net software run on a dedicated pc for monitoring of luminaires etc.

My question; Will Wiser be able to communicate to abovementioned software on TCP/IP. If so, we can omit all the C-Bus>DALI gateways?

    Thanks

It is hard to be sure, but I would think that this would be pushing things a bit.

There are several limitations of the Wiser TCP/IP sockets, and logic in general, which may be relevant:
    1. Wiser can only have four TCP/IP clients open at once, and you really need 25
    2. There is a maximum length of 50 characters in sent and received TCP/IP commands
    3. You would be needing to monitor state changes on both sides (C-Bus and DALI) for 1600 groups (25 DALI networks x 64 groups per network) which will require a LOT of storage and processing. It is unlikely that this will be practical.

What sort of monitoring do you need? Are you aware that the C-Bus DALI gateway supports monitoring of lamp and ballast failures over the C-Bus Error Reporting application, and that this information is available in SchedulePlus?

    Hello Gents,

Thanks for the reply. At this stage no monitoring is required, but it may become a requirement in the future and then we'll use C-Bus or integrate to a BMS.

    Best regards,
