I have an ensuite which has 3 LV halogens, 9 LEDs and one fan. I can control the halogens and the fan no problem, LEDs I have to get a relay for.

My question is, can I have a single button for the bathroom on my DLT which will turn all the lights on and off but also act as a dimmer for the halogens. I dont want to use seperate buttons for the two sets of lights. I can manage the fan no problems.

    Cheers

    I think you can.

If you set the turn on threshold for the relay to 1% and then ramp up the group (assuming they are all the same group), the LED's will come on as soon as the group level is above 1%, this will also dim up the other LV Lights

When you set the button up as a dimmer, the default is a short press is on, short press off, so this will give you on and off control and then long press for ramping.

    Hi Simon

At what point do you want the LED's to operate? Do you want them on when the halogens are at 1% (as Mick suggested) or maybe at 80%. Regardless, as suggested by Mick, you can get the relay to operate at a threshold on the same group address as is used for dimming. This has been about forever (well since C-Bus was launched back in August 1994 anyway), but it's always good to highlight some features that may have been lost over the years

    Cheers

The LEDs should come on at the same time as the halogens, regardless of the setting of the halogens. Got to admit, its the first time I have done it this way, and as the relay hasnt arrived yet I havent had chance to play.

C-Bus Relay units consider any level other than 0% as On. If the relay channel for the LEDs and the dimmer channels for the halogens all share the same group address and the DLT button is programmed as a dimmer button then the LEDs will switch on at any time the halogens are on, regardless of the dimmed level of the halogens.

Newman is quite correct - this is the default way that a relay works.

However you CAN change that default using the turn-on threshold (normally this is 1%, but you can make it anything).

The way the relay works is:

If the level is BELOW the turn-on threshold the relay is off.

If the level is AT or ABOVE the turn-on threshold the relay is on.
