Hi i am trying to control a contactor with the output of a 4 channel dimmer. i have set the output to toggle on/off but when the contactor gets power it hums momentarilly as if it is getting a ramping voltage. i dont have much experience as i did the course a few years ago. i was hoping someone can point me in the right direction

    still a dimmer

    Hi
The dimmer is always a dimmer channel no matter what you program it as. It will still ramp on and off, even when you program it as you have, to not have a dimmer function (0% or 100%).
A load like a coil will work but neither the dimmer or the coil will like it, and eventually one or the other is likely to fail early. It's a bit like putting a fluoro or a non dimming LED on a dimmer, it might work but neither are really designed for that application.
If you can find a spare relay output it would be much better.:)
