It is about 7 years since I did the C-Bus training course and I'm a bit rusty on some of the functions.
I have a 8 button Neo (firmware 1.6.00). I want to press a button to automatically ramp a lamp up slowly to about 40%. When pressed again the lamp would turn off, preferably immediately. I could use one of the other buttons on the plate, which is already controlling the lamp (dimmer), to turn it off if required.
Can anyone give me advice on what the necessary settings need to be?

I didn't get any suggestions, so I just set up a scene to provide the delay and ramp level and used a second key to turn it off.

If you want to do it using only 1 button, create 2 action selectors in a new trigger group, one with a value of 0 (for off) and another with the value of 255 (100%) for On. Select Trigger Group as the secondary application for the switch and then select the new trigger group for the switch with a function of Toggle. Set your turn on scene for the ON action selector and create a new Off scene using the Off action selector.

If you never use this light above 40% then you could simply set the maximum level to 40% in the dimmer.

If you only ever want to toggle between 0% and 40% then you can use the Memory Toggle function for the key and set the level to 40%. The only down-side with this approach is that whenever the group is turned off, the level the light was at prior to turning it off becomes the new memory level, even if it was turned off by a different button on the unit.

By configuring the Microfunctions for the key (Key Functions tab) you can configure the key to use the Ramp Recall function for the Short Release and an Off Key or Ramp Off function as the Long Press function. If the Recall 1 level is configured to 40% this will give you a soft turn-on to 40% when you short-press the button but if you press and hold it will turn/ramp off.
