Dimming of TC-TEL / TC-DEL lamps.

Dear All...

Is it possible to Dim a TC-TEL or TC-DEL lamps using Clpsal Dimmers?

What is this nomenclature means ? I think these are CFL lamps. And CFL cannot be dimmed using Clipsal Dimmers right.

If these lamps have separate Ballasts like the normal Fluorescent lamps, i hope i can use the Analog / DSI / Dali Units.

please give me some details about the nomenclature used and the dimming method.

Tubular compact fluorescent lamps

Yes it is possible, you need the right dimming ballast to do this though, either a DSI or Dali dimming ballast is simply controlled by a corresponding C-bus dimmer/controller. Analogue 0-10V is possible but becoming less common. These ballasts are available from Tridonic Atco or Osram amongst others.

The Name of the Lamp indicates they are Tubular compact fluorescent lamps, it goes something like this:
TC: = Tubular compact
D/T: D=Double, T=Triple, S=Single, Q=quad; this relates to the number of U tubes in the lamp.
E or EL: = for Electronic control gear, that is it has 4 pins, as opposed to those for magnetic gear that have 2 pins.
e.g Sylvania call theirs "Lynx DE" for a double U lamp for electronic control. The same lamp from Osram is a "Dulux D/E", the manufacturers seem to substitute the type description with there trademark or brand name.
These are not to be confused with "GLS replacment" CFL's that have ES or BC bases.

Dimming florecent lamps with 0-10V

Dear All,

I suppose to install the dimmable florecent lamps in the particular inatallation.
I have ordered L5504AMP to get the 0-10V output which can trigger the dimmable balast.

Does it need to wire the lamp through the relay to get the On/Off function...

yes it would be preferable to switch unit on /off with relay and use o-10volt for dimming.

If we have a Pascal automation controler in the site is there any possibility of On/Off and dim UP/Down by using a single or two key inputs???
Just like configuring a scene like?

Or do you have any suggesitons for this kind of implimentation?

You can do what you want without having to write any logic code.

Assign the 0-10V output and the relay channel output to the same C-Bus group address. When the Group address is off, both will be off. When the Group Address is at any level other than 0, the relay will turn on and power the ballast and the 0-10V output will be at the set level.
