C-Bus initial hardware setup for newbies.

Perhaps a cheat-sheet or Quick Set-up Guide is needed here.
I know not too many things work out-of-the-box these days, but an easy to follow how-to might be a handy thing.

Its pretty strange because this *should* all work out of the box.

I wonder at the history of the units...

    New or previously used?

Configured partly or fully by the old V2 software?

Its important to give as much information as possible.

A quickstart card is a good idea.....

Network Analizer , A Must Have in your Kit!

I Invested in a Network analizer for my Cbus Tool box . It is was money well spent . Only my opinion but , iF you are a installer they are a must . Just to do a network check that all the Basic Components of a new network are there , or fault finding on a existing network to rule out Basic problems that usually are at fault. :)

I like the cut of your jib Nick!

I thought I was the only one who uesed the 5000NA Network Analyser, I find it a great tool for confirming that the basics of a healthy network are there.

Connect it up at a few points around the network and issues of volt drop and missing clock pulses become clear.

The only iffy bit is the ADD BURDEN - REMOVE BURDEN led's that SHOULD both stay off on a good network but I have seen one or other (or sometimes both alternatly) come on for a short period then go off. As long as nither of them stay on continuously I judge it to be a good network burdenwise.

Also I have occasionally seen them give a brief C-bus Clock not present indication when there is a HomeMinder on the network but checking with a CRO has not shown any missing pulses etc. So I keep those two bits of info at the back of my mind when checking out a network and judge the readings accordingly
