    Hi Charlie,

Quite some time ago the USB drivers for various devices were consolidated into a smaller number of unified drivers - this may be why the installer wanted to uninstall the PAC driver.

It's worth mentioning that the process of replacing drivers can take a while - I would wait at least 10 minutes before writing off the installer.

Normally the installer does work - I am not sure why the oem18.inf error occurred.

If you go into Windows Add/Remove Programs and uninstall all Clipsal USB drivers that you find there, the installation may be able to proceed.

This thread is quite old but has a few other driver trouble-shooting tips: http://www.cbusforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5346

Although I am a Schneider Electric loyal partner, this "Clipsal by Schneider Electric (Australia)" nailed my heart...:(

I tried again letting the installer run for 1 hrs and did nothing....

Looked in add or remove programs but could not see any USB driver listed PAC or tool Kit.

I did the "show hidden devices and uninstalled the tool kit com port

    I removed

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\slabwhnt.sys
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\silabenm.sys
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\silabser.sys
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\slabbus.sys
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\slabcm.sys
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\slabcmnt.sys
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\slabser.sys
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\slabwh.sys
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\WdfCoinstaller01005.dll
    C:\Program Files\Clipsal Integrated Systems\Clipsal USB Com Port Driver\*.*

    Rebooted.

    Got the same error.

It is still detecting the PAC driver

How do I force/manual uninstall the PAC driver so it does not see it.

BTW pac has never been plugged in here just PICED installed.

    in c:\program files\clipsal intergraded systems

    I have

    Clipsal USB Com port driver
    Matrix Switcher USB driver
    Nirt USB Driver

I tried this but it can not see the PAC driver so nothing to uninstall.

I found the oem18.inf file it was looking for and I copied it to the directory it wanted.

The uninstallation proceeded further and then the error

"Some of the inf files could not be removed from the system. un plug any devices using this type of driver and try again"

I have nothing connected to the system. I rebooted and tried again and got the same error.

what files/registry entried need to me manually deleted to uninstall the PAC driver ?

I loaded sysinternals Process monitor and watched the registry and the disk.

    It needed

    oem18.inf
    oem18.pnf
    oem19.inf
    oem19.pnf

    in c:\documents setting\username\windows\inf

I copied these files from c:\windows\inf

and then the install worked ok.

just letting other know in case they have the same problem
