    Hi all,

Thought I'd start a new thread since adding to this didn't seem to come up as new posts.
    https://www.cbusforums.com/threads/error-with-tookit-1-13-3-and-remote-cgate.8167/#post-51394

When I connect to and eDLT on a remote cGate on a Rpi I get all the same as the below:

Connecting to the local cGate instead and it works fine. Just annoying as I have to keep disconnecting the Rpi cgate and vice versa. Running toolkit (1.15.2) and cGate (2.11.1).
Just saw newer ones so I might give them a go though....

I assume it's timing out somewhere?

I have the same issue with eDLTs.

    remote C-Gate: 300 cgate: version=v2.11.1 (build 3240), openjdk-8 8u151-b12-1~deb9u1
    local Toolkit: version 1.15.2 (build 2433) with C-Gate 2.11.1 (build 3240) Java 1.8.0_151
    eDLT firmware: 5.5.0

The eDLTs are a major issue - they end up borked (aka inoperable) when using remote cgate.

It looks like there are other issues too. I did the following:
    1. cgate-remote: project save, shutdown.
    2. copy PROJECT.xml from cgate-remote to cgate-local
    3. start cgate-local service
    4. start Toolkit, connect to cgate-local
    and I see that:
    • all the Part-Name fields on the network units have not been updated - they are blank
    and I wonder:
    • are there other things that have not been transferred from the database to the network units?

    Does anyone know
    • Is Toolkit network update done via C-Gate, or does it directly update units via the network?
    • Why would the local / remote C-Gates, with same versions/build, cause failures and omissions when updating network units?

I have noticed using remote cgate that I can't backup, it crashes. I think I did look into it and that had something to do with it being on Linux but that was ages ago. I just don't bother with saving the project.

I do get the Part name fields not updating.

I don’t have any issues with backup on Linux - PROJECT SAVE seems to work fine, and the resulting XML file looks and parses ok. I have about 160 Lighting App entries, 77 Units - XML is about 516K.

I cannot use Toolkit backup project with CGate running on the pi either.
Did wonder if it is a Linux permission issue.

I had success by editing the database - not the unit directly - and when saving the tick the option to update the unit also. All from remote c-gate on Ubuntu.
