What is the most cost effective device in the range to get real time onto C-bus?

    Cheers,

If you are asking the question "What is the cheapest C-Bus device that includes a real-time clock and can send those messages out onto C-Bus?" then the answer is the 5500PACA.

Thanks Newman....yes that what meant to ask.

Didn't want to put as eloquently as you did! :D

Also didn't want to put cheap and C-Bus in the same sentence!

    Cheers,

    Fleetz

DONT use a 5500PACA on its own!

It has no user interface device to allow you to CHANGE the time in it.

And even though it has a crystal, these drift. A standard 50 ppm crystal can lead to a worst case drift of > 10 minutes per year !

You need something else as well. A B&W touchscreen will also allow the timekeeping and allows you to change the time if its drifted off.

(And for those who howl about wanting better accuracy.... its all down to $. If you want an atomic clock, if might be out of your budget!)

Accuracy is no substitute for precision.

It's funny how you can buy a $5 chinese LCD or Quartz clock or watch from your local dollar shop that keeps perfect time...

    ;) :D

Well actually they don't keep perfect time.

When we fiddle with a watch we never remember we did it.

And those $5 chinese watches that my kids have had drifted terribly. Some of them were completely useless because they were drifting 1/2 hour per week!
