I have about 100 group addresses for my house. I would like to group the lights OUTSIDE, UPSTAIRS and DOWNSTAIRS. The Area Address would be okay if I wanted Master On/Off, but I want to be able to control the lights individually.

I have been playing with the PAC and I think I can archive this easily with the unit, but what I wanted to know is, if there is any other way of doing this without PAC or touch screens?

You don't make it clear - do you want to group them for convenience in things like Tookit, or do you want to control the entire group in a single go.

You could proably use scenes to group for control. If you have a touchscreen there should be plenty of capacity for that many group addresses.

I would like to control the lights as a group, and still be able to control individual lights. For example have one key switching all the downstairs lights off from upstairs, but if anyone downstairs wants to turn any specific light on, they should be able to from the downstairs Neo(s)

The issue I have with scenes is the number of groups you can have in a single scene. One grouping would have about 30 addresses.

You can use a Neo to trigger a scene that is in another unit.

So for example you could have a large scene with 30, 40 or more groups in it. Store that in a touchscreen. (I'm not sure if you can store it in a PAC - you might be able to synthesise it by writing PASCAL code...)

Then remote trigger it and it will be played out by the device that stores the scene.

    Thanks Ashleigh,

I was thinking more like a OO programmer, that is instead of having two scenes per group, one to switch the group off, and another to switch the group to a specific level, I can have one function that uses a variable in the PAC and just change the variable to turn the group on/off, dimmer and so forth. Now that I think about it, I should be able to use another variable to set the ramp rate as well.

    PAC scenes made easy

I guess with SetScene/SetSceneLevel it makes sense to use scenes. Based on what I saw so far, PAC makes scenes seem easier to use, change and re-use.
The more I play with the PAC the more I like the unit. Excellent job CIS!!!!
