Two questions from a relative newbie to HomeGate. Apologies if the answers are obvious!

Page 94 of the Programmer's Guide says "A Security Application Template has been provided to show how this can be done". The hyperlink is to a generic page explaining what templates are all about. I have had a look both within HomeGate and using Windows Explorer and I can't find any sign of a template which "showcases" the Security Application. Pointers welcome!

The BMP files supplied with the product are good and I especially like the animated ones (even though some bitmap copying/editing is needed to get a static fan for off and a moving fan for on). Is anyone aware of any additional libraries of BMPs suitable for use? I'm thinking for example of an animated BMP to show the various levels of a light connected to a C-Bus dimmer. I'd prefer a free library, but some kind of "stock icons" package at a reasonable charge woudl also do the job.

    Thanks,

    Nick

    Progress ?

I have now found the Security Template - seems that I needed to download PICED to get that.

I am now struggling with getting hold of Zone Names in HomeGate. I have just used Toolkit to give names to my Zones (ie the Groups in Application 208) - so I have "Lounge PIR" rather than "Zone 3". I can see these in the Toolkit log - whenever a zone chages state, I see a message on Application 208 which shows the Group Name.

BUT I can't see those zone names in HomeGate. Everything is still stubbornly saying "Zone 3", etc. I am definitely seeing the Application 208 traffic - because I can get indicators to show the PIR activations. It's just a pain to be faced with a dropdown list of zone numbers after painstakingly naming all the groups in Toolkit.

    Clues?

Naming the zones in TK won't do anything for you. That only names groups in the TK database, which is not something you should even be able to do. (Bug).

Zone names are an optional attribute for the alarm system, stored in the alarm system. To the best of my knowledge, no alarm systems out there have chosen to support zones names as part of their implementation of the cbus security application.

Thanks Ashleigh - I must admit I was vaguely aware of an "odd feeling" as I was using Toolkit to name "groups" in the security application - something in the back of my mind perhaps.

The good news is that those group names are useful when monitoring the logs in Toolkit - as you see the zone/group names and not just a number.

Given that my alarm doesn't support naming (at least, I assume it doesn't - it's a Comfort), is there any way to tell HomeGate what the zones should be called (perhaps a parameter file somewhere)?

    Thanks.
