    Folks,

I have a copy of Homegate v1.3 which I bought when I did my install back in 2004 and, I must admit, have only just got around to using it.

So far as I can see it does not want to run under XP SP2 - it errors as soon as it starts up. Must be a version thing, because I have downloaded the latest version from the Clipsal site and it works fine (albeit only in demo mode of course).

It looks like the software has moved on a long way since my purchase (assuming 1.3 was the current version at that time of course, and I wasn't fobbed off with an old version!?!?!).

I can also see version 4.3.0 is current on the Clipsal site, but suppliers here in the UK seem to be offering only 3.x. That's confusing too!

Is there an upgrade path that would let me acquire the new version?

    Thanks.

Thought I'd cracked it, but no !

Bad form to reply to my own post, but I've done some more digging......

1.3, as I said, does not seem to work on XP.

Found an upgrade to 2.5 on the CIS site. That has installed correctly, but does not want to connect to a remote C-Gate.

Found an upgrade to 2.6. That fixes the remote C-Gate connection problem (that is actually one of the documented fixes in 2.6). But it will not connect to C-Gate 2.6.1, it insists on having 2.2.x. I cannot regress to C-Gate 2.2.x because of the requirements of Toolkit.

Found an upgrade to 3.2 (and another to 3.9). That says that a valid Homegate installation was not found. I assume that is because the 2.x to 3.x upgrade is not free.

    So, I am still stuffed!

Is there any other way to resolve this other than to stump up the full price of a brand new 4.x Homegate? It seems a bit tough that "progress" has left me with an apparently irreconcileable "software version argument" between C-Gate (as dictated by Toolkit of course) and Homegate.

    Clues welcome!

    Thanks, Nick.

You could always run Toolkit on one PC with it's required version of C-Gate, and your older version of Homegate on another PC with it's required version of C-Gate, or even one of the above in a virtual machine :p
