I have inspected a job for a client with a HomeMinder system they have a remote, since purchasing the property they haven't used the remote or the HomeMinder system due to not understanding the uses/capabilities.

I have done my C-Bus courses however these are areas that aren't taught anymore and wondering if someone could shed some light on ways to get the layout that the installer/previous owner put on the Minder.

The client has the HomeMinder installation CD and software isn't an issue just wondering if it is compatible with Toolkit etc. the modern or will I need to back grade it. I believe it's a MkII as the installation has a few C-Bus2 modules that have been added prior to my client purchasing the house. I can't find many installation informations, and Clipsal Tech cannot help anymore because the rights etc.... politics.

    Cheers In Advance

Homeminder is not a C-bus device, so cannot be programmed through toolkit so you don't need to worry about having any C-bus software at all. In the past you could use Minder as a PC interface, but this stopped when toolkit came to be.

To get the config out all you will need is the Homerminder configuration program , RS232 cable and the installation pin.

You connect your PC to the comms port on home-minder with the RS232 cable, then select file upload. It will then asked for the pin, try 0000 if you don't know it. Note however not all names will be uploaded, so your config may look odd and will be hard to understand.

Oh if you cannot get the thing to come to life, one common fault was blow RS232 drivers. If this happens they can be easily replaced as they are mounted in IC holders rather than being soldered to the board. There are two of them located near the comms port.
