Hi, basically I have successfully set up my new WISER with Option B and control the lighting of my office through Iphone Apps in LAN. However, I have no idea how to set up the Wiser so that I could control it even I am outside of my office.

    (i) Wiser Controller
    IP: 192.168.1.190
Port: 8080? or 80? what is external and internal port (for port forwarding purpose?)? (page 40 of Installation Instruction manual)

    (ii) CNI
    IP: 192.168.1.191
    Port: 10001 (default)

    - Port forwarding should b done through WiserBasicSetup page or my Linksys router page?

    - Am i right to disable my Wiser's DHCP server setting as well as 'Wireless' under Basic Wireless Setting so that it will not post any conflict with my existing Linksys router?

    - I have to register for a domain name through DynDns.com? As this is really the first time I am trying to set up things to control remotely, so I have very limited knowledge on it. I know it should be done through professional but I hope to give it a try and wish that someone could give me a brief explanation on the basic concept (e.g. the logic behind such as the purpose of the domain name, port forwarding, internal and external port).

    Thank you very much.

thanks tobex for the useful link! =)

Btw, hi kjayakumar, I have a few question regarding your post about Remote Access of Wiser below:

    http://www.cbusforums.com/forums/showpost.php?p=26722&postcount=2

    1) <Note that external port 8080 is forwarded to Wiser IP port 80 because we are using it in LAN mode.> means External Port: 8080, Internal Port: 80 (instead of 8080?) for Application ID (ECH01)?

    2) DNS for PICED-Wiser Project Parameters:
    - <DNS: 192.168.100.1> means I have to set a Static DNS as 192.168.100.1 under my Linksys router configuration page? which is the same as my default gateway?

Hi Kjayakumar, I have tried to configure according to your post. However, I still couldn't access to Wiser remotely using my iphone. I have attached the following images along for your reference. Would appreciate if you could help me to troubleshoot. Thanks.

    - DDNS disabled in Wiser configuration page.

    - Btw, Just wondering did I set the correct port on my Iphone wiser login page?
    Wiser URL: intellihome0101.dyndns.org: 8080?
    WIser IP: 192.168.1.190: 80?

hi Yossi, I have a look on your post but still couldn't figure out what are the configurations that actually went wrong. Would you mind to point it out?

You can refer to Router-1 as the address for DNS inside the Wiser as DNS 1. This forces the WISER to recognise the Router-1 as the WAN gateway.

If you use "real" DNS address in the WISER then it can bypass the Router-1. In some ways this is faster for the WISER but its flawed for the chain of events.

It is desirable for the WISER to rely on Router-1 for its DNS.

Secondly, I note in my personal experience that port 80, 8000, 8080 can give mixed results due to restrictions by Router-1 in handling these ports and blocking them (default management ports also on Router-1).

Have you given some consideration to using 9090 ? 8181 ? Because the WISER is so intelligent it has the possible function to change its admin port number. This is a huge advantage when dealing with many devices in the same location wanting to be on port 8080 and then looking to operate that port from internet WAN side.

Port forwarding on 9090 (only example) is very simple to setup in router-1 but dont forget that Router-1 also needs to handle many other ports like 14000 and whatever is listed in page 40 of the online PDF manual.

I recommend advice from Yoshi who solved some problems in recent times.

    Hi derik.lts

As point of your trouble are

    1. Your WISER is working in Option B configuration.
    2. Your iPhone in LAN connection can connect WISER.
    3. Your iPhone can not connect WISER from WAN side.

    Fact of issue

WISER and CNI MkII are working fine together.
WISER can communicate LAN devices both CNI MkII and iPhone(WiFi connection).
WISER does not communicate WAN devices.
WISER does not understand Default Gateway Address or DNS address.

WISER needs special setting for Option B configuration.
    1. Internet connection port of WISER must to connect with local HUB port.
WISER communicates WAN device through WAN(Internet) Port.
    Attached diagram shows this configuration.

    2. WISER needs to have same IP address both LAN side and WAN side.
You need to select static IP at Internet Connection Type and add a same IP address at Local IP Address.

You should not add 192.168.1.1 at Static DNS3.
If 165.21.100.88 or 192.21.83.88 are correct DNS server, you should not add Static DNS3.
If WISER setup of your iPhone has below.
    WAN URL intellihome0101.dyndns.org:8080
    LAN URL 192.168.1.190:80

You need to add below Port Forwarding at your Router.

WISER1 8080 8080 TCP 192.168.1.190 for WAN connection of WISER
WISER2 8888 8888 TCP 192.168.1.190 for WAN connection of WISER
WISER3 8889 8889 TCP 192.168.1.190 for WAN connection of WISER
ToolK 10001 10001 TCP 192.168.1.190 for remote maintenance of ToolKit from WAN side
WISUP1 8336 8336 TCP 192.168.1.190 for Project update of WISER from WAN side
WISUP2 8337 8337 TCP 192.168.1.190 for Project update of WISER from WAN side
If you have a Colour C-Touch.
CTC1 9000 8336 TCP 192.168.1.*** for Project update of Colour C-Touch from WAN side
CTC1 8081 8081 TCP 192.168.1.*** for Project update of Colour C-Touch from WAN side

I hope this is helpful for your trouble.

So this is an old thread, but still relevant as the subject still applies.

I have the Wiser unit behind a router, with both with Wiser's switch and Wiser's parallel Router/CNI wired to a switch. No problems with anything while on the LAN, no access to the web UI from the WAN.

I have a web server that runs on port 80, so I want to use 3030 and forward that to the internal 192.168.1.10:8080

Attached is the screenshot of my Port Range Forward settings:
