Most ducted sytems use IAS zone controllers. They have a product, their Smart Zone product that they tell me has a home automation kit.

Here is the link to the document.

Anyone know how this works with Cbus, or anyone used it? Any ideas?

I think you can say "some" ducted systems use this zone controller.

As to if it works with cbus - sorry, cannot help.

Fair call, but every installation I have ever seen (except 1 in Sydney) have used IAS, mostly the singlepoint product, for controlling the zone motors etc.

Anyway, just after some knowledge on this product with Cbus...

You might do well to ask the question "who knows where to get hold of a good quality - not too expensive 232 to 485 converter" ? then team this with a PAC unit as you already have the 232 ASCII info.

I am sure there are some bods out there that can answer the converter question - wouldn't mind knowing the answer myself :)

I have found out that IAS also have a "485-232 convertor for PC use".

I take it this would be more helpful? Excuse me ignorance, but how would this then work with Cbus, in being able to control the IAS gear, from a C-Touch etc

C-Touch colour and PAC both have serial outputs.

You write your own logic code in "Clipsal Pascal" to take whatever cbus events you are interested in, and throw appropriate control strings out to your device.
