Nick also asked if your setup works with the Adobe Flash UI (ie: in a browser).

Yes, the web client works fine on PC remotely, as does the iPhone client. Can't obviously test the flash client on iPad.

Does the iPad client work on WAN for other people?

Yes, iPad client works on WAN, works remotely as long as the entered value for WAN is the Wiser's IP (as opposed to the Wiser's DNS name, such as myhome.dyndns.org).

Earlier you said "using the exact settings for the iPhone app for the WAN connection, I cannot connect with either the previous or the new iPad app.". This is confusing because there is only one iPad app. I had misinterpreted your message as saying cannot connect with either the iPhone app or the iPad app.

If I understand you correctly, you are seeing:
    - works fine with PC/browser from LAN and remote
    - works fine with iPhone client from LAN and remote
    - does not work fine with iPad from remote

Are you seeing it work correctly with the iPad from LAN? If not, then the problem is unrelated to networking setup and is more likely a issue with the iPad app and the specifics of the project on the Wiser. We would then want to get your project, firmware version, PICED version and try to reproduce it.

The iPad app (new one) works perfectly on LAN, but on WAN it dies when it makes the connection.

If I give it a rubbish WAN address, it simply times out - hence I believe it is making the connection and the app is terminating.

How would I get you my project?

The fact that the iPad app works on your LAN suggests it is not a project issue. It looks like a networking issue. Earlier you wrote:
", the port forwarding is working correctly on PC app and iPhone app and hence it should work on the iPad App."

Are you using a different external port than the default? The default external port is port 8080. I think you mentioned it works with the iPhone app over WAN/remote, is that with the exact same network settings? I assume your project has remote projector enabled since it works with the iPhone app via remote.

    Hi,

I have port forwarding for 8080 to 192.168.2.1 and also 8888-8889 (all to the same ports) from the public IP.

If I specify port 8080, I get a timeout. If I specify just the IP Address, it drops out the application again after a few seconds.

What settings for the IP/Hostname would be used normally?

Yes, the project has projector enabled. Everything else works fine, except for the new iPad app.

I was having the same problem. I could connect via LAN, but not WAN when away from home. I went into settings and deleted the LAN address, leaving only the WAN URL and this fixed the problem so that I am now able to connect remotely, even using my DNS.

    Hi tidefan,

What exact URL or ip format are you using in the settings? Are you mapping any other ports?

    Wiser HD

I think the new App is GREAT!

I had some issues at first with it connecting and then getting stuck. I reset the Wiser and it worked from there on. I've now updated the firmware and the project and it's working just fine.

Yes 3G seemed a little slow so might keep the other App for mobile use but on the iPad it's really nice!

No preview on the Security Cameras? Or maybe I just haven't set up up right...

    Cheers

    Jon :)
