Nope, just c-gate, no homegate or scheduleplus here.

I think it is important to make sure folks understand that this app uses the Wiser as a CNI. It does not use a Wiser as a Wiser! Saying it is "fully working" is inaccurate. Lets not do that anymore please.

Thanks for your post and request for clarification

At no time did I say it was a Wiser or acting as a Wiser I said it was compatible and fully working with the Wiser which was part of our beta testing. Also in another post I said:

"If you have a Wiser you don't need to purchase a separate CNI" so my reference has always been to the CNI component.

    Trust this clarifies your post

Sorry Adrian, didn't respond to your message. Just cgate should be fine, was curious to see if you were running homegate, but it's not necessary as long as your cgate is launched and synced.

Web site is now upated with app details and a basic faq

    Go to

    Homegate + Cgate + CNI

    This app sounds great.

    Two questions:

    1. I am running Homegate on a Sahara touch screen connected to c-gate via a CNI. Am I correct in thinking that this app can connect to the CNI while Homegate is still connected (since it is possible to have 2 Homegate sessions active from different pc's)? ie: I don't need a 2nd CNI ?

    2. Can you confirm that sub-menus are available eg:
    ....Lighting
    ........Bedroom1
    ............Wardrobe
    ............Bedside
    ............Downlight

    Thanks

    Andrew

    Hi Andrew,

    Answer 1.
In your scenario you would need a second CNI connected as whilst homegate allows you to connect multiple times (well, cgate really), the CNI does not.

The cgate version we are developing would get around this as it connects the same way as homegate/scheduler plus/toolkit does. But at present you would need that second CNI.

    Answer 2
Sub menus are available and you configure them to your hearts content. The ones shown on the web site are just sample screens, you can make as many main sections as you want and as many sub sections in those main sections that you want.

So you could have lighting, blinds, scenes, outside, sprinklers off the main menu and then whatever rooms are relevant within those sections and then just add all the devices you want. There are no built in restrictions for how much you can add.

    Thanks Tony.

Am I right in thinking that a CNI connection is more efficient and does not require C-Gate to have 'synced'. Normally when everything is up and running this wouldn't matter (I guess) but on the odd occasion when the c-gate pc is rebooted and therefore needs to resync then the iphone app would keep working regardless of the state of c-gate?

    Hi Andrew,

Yes a seperate CNI connection would be faster as when the program connects is does its own "mini" sync which takes literally just a few seconds.

Technically its also one less layer before cbus gets the message.

We are still doing a cgate version for those that would like it but a seperate CNI would ensure that your client (or yourself) can tap the app icon, get in and control what you like regardless of cgate status.

    iPhone App

    Hi Peter

I've just rejoined the CBUS forum after a long absence and am naturally interested in the App. As at this date is it available (14July) - have searched the App store and don't see anything available yet.

    Cheers

    Richard

    Tutorial Video

    Hi Guys,

Just a quick note to let you know there is now a youtube video with a tutorial showing you how easy it is to setup your project.

    http://www.touchsoft.com.au/Site_2/iPhone_iPod_Automation_App_Video.html

Even though you can't see the lights turning on and off this project was running live on our cbus network when the video was captured so all the response times you see here are realtime.

    Hi Rick,

Are you trying to view on your iphone? Try a regular desktop browser for now as the video was uploaded in high quality format. We will re-encode an ipod version first thing tomorrow (AEST).

    Itouch I/face

In particular - the "capture last button pressed " function is inspired!

I assume that will work where a button triggers a scene too?

Provided the button broadcasts on the network it will capture it, but obviously if it then fires a scene which broadcasts a dozen addresses, it will confuse them. Best way would be to manually enter the scene button address or simply press it on the wall and capture it, before assigning it as a scene trigger button in c-touch etc.

    Does this answer your question?

    Tony

P.S. Video should work for all now, there was actually a youtube glitch earlier. Plan to post another shortly showing app in real time use, i.e. walking around a house and demonstrating so you can see the response times.
