Is it possible to damage NIRT if High Speed Programming Cable was inserted to NIRT with wrong orientation?

Documentation says that this connection is polarity sensitive but not describes that happens if it will be connect with wrong orientation.

I play now for first time with NIRT and CIRCA 2.0.6 , and cant download to NIRT either with USB-RS232, or PCMCIA-RS-232. I guess may it be, because I connected 5100HSC to NIRT before with wrong orientation?

Infortunately there isnt any hardware protection or labels on NIRT or 5100HSC, and instruction i found by link below dont describe right connection 5100HSC. http://www2.clipsal.com/cis/__data/page/428/Infrared Transmitter Unit Installation Instructions2.pdf

I found more full intruction in technical support area, but it was after wrong connection happened.

Now I can download project to NIRT with tabletop computer with hardware RS-232.

It is surprise for me, that I cant use my notebook (it hasnt internal RS-232)for new CIRCA! Is it not correct?

    Hi Sergio,

I don't think connecting the cable backwards causes any damage. I do it all the time. :)

On the computer that Circa 2 can't communicate does Circa 1 work?

It is not uncommon to have laptops not work with their RS232 ports as they use tricks to reduce power consumption etc... that interferes with the Nirt download.

It is 100% safe to connect the 5100HSC around the wrong way, it just doesn't work.
