I have just got a new laptop and it came with windows 7 - 64 bit operating system.
The software will install and start but i am having troubles with the comms ports.

Ive tried uninstalling drivers, forcing driver via setup, reinstalls, updates, etc

    Problems:
    1. In windows Device manager it shows the ports and comm number. In toolkit it shows no comm ports.
    2. Toolkit shows comm ports but they do not match with actuall port numbers.
    3. Renumber to a new unused comm port in windows and toolkit so they match and the it says comm ports in use.

Can anyone help. Im sure others have had similar issues.

    Cheers,
    W7

Been using window7 for last 12 months with no problem .
Toolkit is a bit dumb - make sure you plug in the comms device BEFORE starting it - I use a USB to serial cable but have to plug in a port before startin Toolkit.

    See it that fixs it

In Toolkits defence.. its actually Java (used by CGate) thats a bit dumb, it doesnt know about COM Ports added after the Java Virtual Machine is instantiated.

Yeah, the COM ports are enumerated by C-Gate which passes the information to Toolkit. C-Gate does the actual communication with the COM ports.
