    Hi
Looking at the L5501RFCP Fan Control Relay as an alternative to the single channel relay (5101R or the 5102RVF) which are a bit old hat now, but don't yet seem to be upgraded for some reason. ????
Anyway we are looking at controlling some Aircon Units with some with Dry Contacts (Normally open) and also some outside lighting at less than 2A per circuit, so on a quick count on site today, there is over 80 units required, so If we could use the L5501RFCP as a straight relay then we could save some money.

Because they are ?380 each unit and I will need in total 80 units,
the Aircon are not mounted next to each other, but spread over 28 networks.

They are very expensive over there. I did not realise you were mounting them at the unit. I thought you could do 8 with 1 box.

You are right Clipsal do need a single din rail relay in the product range. Quite a few people where hoping the shutter really could have been used for this but they can not.

    Hi CarlG,

If you are trying to get the cheapest single or dual switched dry reed output from a C-Bus network, you could fit a 5102BCLEDL bus coupler with a 1.5v coil reed relay (eg AGQ2001H or HGJ2MT 54211 G00 with inline resistor if required) attached to the LED output of either of the 2 channels. This will give 2 channel dry reed switching at about $30 less than the cost of a 1 channel 5101r and almost half on a 2 channel basis.

If you are really under the pump on cost and a bit of a butcher :p, buy a 2 or 4 button plastic switchplate and use the LED output/s to drive 1.5v coil reed relays. I don't recommend this at all, I am just trying to provide all the options I can think of.

Of course, both these concepts fall outside the bounds of quality that you would normally install into a commercial job IMHO, so I would suggest you stick with the 5101R or L5501RFCP solutions. In Australia, the 5101R and L5501RFCP are both identical in price, but the 5101r is readily mountable and doesn't require a din rail enclosure. The L5501RFCP has a really neat inline enclosure (5501FRE) but that pops the cost ~$30 above that of the 5101R.

Hope that helps give you a few options,

    Brad
