    Hi All,

I have a C-bus installation in my home that is approx 16 years old and is using older 5104D750 dimmers. I have just lost a channel on one of them due to a mistake made by the electrician making some wiring changes during renovations.

Unfortunately I have no spare dimmer channels left so in order to get the lights working again I will need to replace the dimmer. If I purchase a new dimmer it will mean wiring changes so I was thinking that I might try and replace the faulty dimmer with one of the same type to avoid the need to move wiring.

Is there anyone on this forum that knows the whereabouts of a 5104D750 dimmer in good working order that I could purchase or does anyone have one that they would be willing to sell?

You see them on ebay from time to time. Unfortunately you need to wait and then hope you win.

    Doh!

    Hi icthus8
Shame as they tended to be a good solid unit from my experience. I hope your electrician will cover the cost of replacement or take it off your bill.
I had a look in the shed and only have a preloved 5104RVF.
Alternatively you can install a current DIN type in a 12mod enclosure in the same location if you have space.
    Hope you find one.

No offence but I don't think a wireless switch/dimmer can in any way shape or form be considered a replacement for a wired 4 channel dimmer unit. If he was going to the extent of rewiring to take advantage of you unit he may as well rewire for the DIN type and buy new.

Yeah it doesn't help that the OP posted the same question to multiple threads.

    Hi Zei20T & Ashley W,

Thanks for your interest in this thread but I had already helped out icthus8 last month with a brand new old stock 5104D750 dimmer I had in my parts cabinet.

So he is all OK, (as far as I know, as I haven't heard back which is usually a good thing)

Have a further dimmer and relay module if anyone ever needs one.

    Regards,

    Brad

yup I realise that, but with the age of the dimmer units and lack of availability, sometimes beggars cant be choosers :)

glad to hear your client is ok!
