    Hi mh4tech,

First of all stop eating the software :)

    1) Where did you install the software to, what directory?

    2) Did you install the Full or Partial version?

    3) Are you running Windows Firewall or similar? Check your firewall settings.

    4) How fast is your CPU, how much RAM do you have?

    5) Which version of Windows are you running?

You can also contact our support services on: [email protected]

    cheers,
    Daniel

First of all, disconnect from internet and stop all firewall from Windows, Norton,...etc and see if the C-gate can start. C-gate is a piece of Java program that access some of your computer ports. These action can be blocked by firewall (normally the software asks you what to do in the first time).

More than likely your virus software is stopping C-Gate. You will need to manually allow (in your virus program) the java.exe program to run before you get anywhere.

C-Gate failing to start (as you mentioned at the outset) has nothing to do with C-Bus networks or equipment. Did your problems appear after you installed 1.7.2 ?. If so some secuirty type software might have detected the "New" instance of C-gate and blocked it. If it is not a security software issue then you need to find out what is wrong with C-Gate. You will never connect to a C-Bus network if C-Gate is not working properly. Consider C-Gate as your comms server - no comms server, no play.

    Hope this helps...:)

I occasionally get a problem where c-gate wont start.

Toolkit itself will start and then produces an error message. I just go to File -> Connect to local projects repository and it all works fine.

This happens on an older PIII and a brand new PIV. No biggie when you know how to keep going

Maybe one of the boys in the brains trust can clarify this, the way I understand it is c-gate starting and toolkit connecting to c-gate are two distinct operations. As such c-gate not starting and toolkit not connecting to a running instance of c-gate, could be caused by two different problems. Obviously is c-gate does not start for some reason then there is nothing for toolkit to connect to

from my pc for ever i mean how can i clean the windows registry also

after that i can install a fresh copy or i will format my pc:mad:

Sounds to me like something has gone screwy with the JRE (Java Runtime Environment).

If you are getting the main screen open with the initial splash screen and then an error it would indicate that the main software is ok but the JRE isnt starting.

I would start by visiting the Sun Java site and downloading the latest JRE for your operating system.

If this doesnt fix it then you may be stuck with a reformat as the registry doesnt clean up too well when your messing with the JRE.

    Best of luck
